Due to the low price of finished steel in the United States and Asia and Russia, the export price of Brazilian slab fell under pressure.
At present, Mysteel has learned that the quotation for exporting slab from Brazil is about 560-570 USD/ton FOB, a decrease of about 10 USD/ton from last week.
Sources say that the Vietnamese slab price is 560 USD/ton FOB, while the Russian slab price is 495-510 USD/ton FOB, both of which have put pressure on Brazil’s slab exports.
Some buyers have stated that the Brazilian slab is quoted FOB $560 per ton to Mexico and the United States, but the buyer’s inquiry price is as low as $545-550 per ton FOB.
Some market participants believe that Brazilian slab prices will continue to decline in the last few months of this year, but Brazilian steel plant sources have stated that export prices will be adjusted based on cost prices, and prices in the future will depend on demand and cost conditions.
